Anwen joined Octagon Chambers in January 2013, having previously practiced from Bristol and Birmingham.

Since coming to the Bar, Anwen has specialised in Family Law and in all matters concerning children. Her family practice involves both public and private law cases at all levels from the Family Proceedings Court to the High Court. She has been instructed in adoption, child care, ventilator and ‘shaken baby' cases, including those resulting in homicide.

She is frequently instructed in cases where immigration problems impact on families and children as well as international child abduction and placement of children abroad. She has experience of dealing with cases from all over the world and of dealing with clients of various cultures and faiths.

In private law cases she has represented clients involved in media exposure and the protection of children in that environment. Anwen particularly enjoys acting for children when they give direct instructions.

Her Ancillary Relief practice ranges from high value to low income cases as well as those involving property disputes between unmarried couples.

Due to her extensive experience in family law, Anwen has developed a strong criminal practice to compliment this, conducting cases with both a criminal and family element. She has a particular interest in matters involving children as victims and perpetrators, as well as representing clients with learning difficulties or where their first language is not English.

She has conducted cases involving serious sexual offence including rape and murder.

As a solicitor in a thriving practice, for over ten years Anwen ran a busy litigation department which conducted litigation in all areas of law including contentious probate, commercial litigation, general common law and personal injury. She was involved in actions for breach of confidence against a major national newspaper and in her youth arrested a ship!
